Vaccinations

Vaccinations are important  to help maintain good health for your pet and to help protect against life threatening preventable diseases.

Vaccinations usually begin  at 6-8 weeks of age, with boosters at 10-12 weeks and 14-16 weeks of age.

An annual vaccination accompanying a complete health check for life is then recommended.

Dogs

The vaccination we routinely give for dogs is called a C5 and vaccinates against:
  • Distemper
  • Infectious Canine Hepatitis
  • Parvovirus
  • Canine Cough (also known as kennel cough)

An extended duration C3 vaccine (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus) is maintained every 3 years for adult dogs, whilst the Canine Cough vaccine is given annually.

Cats

The vaccination we routinely give for cats is called Fel-O-Vax 4 and is a 4-in-1 and vaccinates against:
  • Feline Enteritis
  • Cat Flu (Herpesvirus, Calicivirus and Chlamydia)

Vaccinations against Feline Aids and Feline Leukaemia are also available and are particularly important for cats spending time outdoors.

Kitten Care Advice
Different vaccine protocols are available for dogs and cats, no longer does 'one size fits all' apply. We discuss and tailor the vaccine to best suit your pet's needs and lifestyle.

Rabbits

Vaccinations are also recommended for rabbits against the deadly Caliciviris. Young rabbits initially require two vaccinations one month apart. Booster vaccinations are then recommended binnually or annually.

Unfortunately there is no vaccine against Myxomatosis, and so preventative measures to minimise exposure to mosquitoes is very important to decrease the risk of this disease.

Pet Insurance

We strongly recommend taking out pet insurance as soon as you bring your new pet home. Insurance provides extra piece of mind and relieves financial stress that can be associated with an unexpected illness or accident.
