Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a harmless form of medical imaging that uses high-frequency sound waves to form an image.

Ultrasound examinations are non- invasive and are an important diagnostic tool used in the internal assessment of the chest and abdomen. They can often provide information that x-rays cannot.

An ultrasound can usually be performed without sedation or general anaesthesia.

We can sometimes perform an ultrasound in an appointment timeslot, or if a more extensive ultrasound is required, your pet may need to be admitted to the hospital for a short period of time.

We also closely collaborate with specialist sonographers who visit our hospital on a regular basis. Cardiac disease is a common condition diagnosed in pets, and specialist ultrasound techniques are very useful in diagnosing the extent and type of cardiac disease, enabling the best treatment options for your pet.
