Vaccinations for Dogs

Why Vaccinate:

Vaccinations are important  to help maintain good health for your dog and help protect against life threatening preventable diseases.

When do we Vaccinate:

Vaccinations begin as a puppy at 6-8 weeks of age, with boosters at 10-12 weeks and 14-16 weeks of age.

An annual vaccination and complete health check for life is then recommended. The C3 vaccine against Distemper, Hepatitis and Parvoviris can now be given every 3 years, and the Canine Cough vaccine is given annually to maintain immunity.

What do we Vaccinate for:

The vaccination routinely given at our clinic is called a C5 and vaccinates against
  • Distemper - a viral disease that affects the respiratory, digestive and nervous system
  • Infectious Canine Hepatitis - a viral disease that affects the liver
  • Parvovirus - a viral infection that causes fatal or severe diarrhoea and vomitting
  • Canine Cough (also known as kennel cough) - a viral and bacterial infection that can cause bronchitis and pneumonia

Different vaccine protocols are available, no longer does 'one size fits all' apply. We discuss and tailor the vaccine to best suityour dog's needs and lifestyle.
